PHYSICAL EDUCATION POLICIES:

The students of Powder Mill Middle School will receive physical education that allows them to experience a variety of sports and activities so that they will have the understanding and the knowledge to be able to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Students have Physical Education class twice a week for the entire school year.  Please encourage your child to fill in their agenda to help them remember their P.E. clothes and sneakers.  Please work to keep your child physically active outside of school by involving them in activities that they enjoy.  We also encourage families to exercise together regularly.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLOTHING POLICY
All students are required to change their clothes for P.E. class. Students must have a complete change of clothing.  Students must change out of clothing worn to school and into appropriate t-shirt, shorts, sweatshirts/pants, warm-up suits, socks, sneakers, etc.  Apparel with zippers, pockets, belts, loops or buttons are prohibited for health and/or safety reasons.  Students may want to bring extra clothing for cooler days when P.E. classes take place outside.  Coming to class unprepared will affect a student's grade.  Jewelry is not allowed.  All jewelry must be removed in order to participate in class.  If a student can't remove their earrings, then it is their responsibility to bring medical tape or band-aids to cover them.   Students are encouraged to leave all valuables in their locked school locker.  It is the responsibility of the student to come prepared for class each time.

HYGIENE
We encourage good hygienic habits.  Showers are NOT required.  However, at this age, students should be wearing deodorant every day and bringing it with them to P.E. class. Please, no aerosol cans.  Stick and roll-ons only.  Perfumes and colognes are not allowed.

EXCUSE NOTES
Please provide the school nurse with a doctor's note if your child has any restrictions limiting his/her activity during P.E. class.  A long term absence due to a disability requries an excuse from you doctor.  A short-term (one class) absence due to a disability requires a parental note.

TEACHERS
The P.E. Teachers are Mrs. Hendrickson and Mr. Archambeault.
We look forward to working with your child during his/her years at Powder Mill Middle School. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.
